And, as their genus name Ophiophagus suggests, king cobras specialize in eating other snakes. King cobras are the longest venomous snakes in the world, with some spanning 18 feet. That’s true even when two large species of snake are involved. “This is a weird encounter, but a lot of stuff that happens with snakes is never easily seen.” Lethal Mix “It looks real, it doesn’t look photoshopped or anything,” says Frank Burbrink of the American Museum of Natural History. There, it quickly attracted the attention of herpetologists and others marveling at the unusual sight (we’re all familiar with the ouroboros, a symbol depicting a serpent eating its own tail, but who’s ever seen a dead python balled up around a dead cobra?). “It’s crazy, but it’s something I could easily see happening…it’s a dangerous world out there, to eat other big snakes and things that could kill you,” says Coleman Sheehy of the Florida Museum of Natural History, who says the deadly clash likely occurred somewhere in Southeast Asia, where the two snake species overlap.īoth snakes are superlative among their slithering kin, and as these things sometimes do, a photo of the corpses ended up being posted on Facebook. Bitten behind its head by the cobra and suffering from the hooded snake’s deadly venom, the python attempted to defend its life by squeezing its attacker to death. The second, a reticulated python, was also dead. One of the combatants, a king cobra, lay strangled. Easy to change if I ever wanted to.Recently, a lethal battle between two scaly titans ended in a draw, leaving behind a twisted, grisly scene. My KC has the fixed rear (would be nice if a little deeper) and gold front. It's good to see those aftermarket rears available. Rear sight terrible, 3 inch needs rounded grip frame. Although not with much resistance because I've had no issues with tight / stuck cases.ĥ. Only looks slight bigger / heavier in pics but I'll take your word for it.Ĥ. I don't fire it SA except occasionally to check zero of a new load or something.ģ. So now a Python or two, and an Anaconda are strait up on my list of gotta have. Thanks for reviews!Ģ. On the plus side for the sights and grips, grips can be replaced, and the nice people at Wilson Combat have the rear and front sights covered! I liked both, but the grip on the 3” bbl is the same as the 4.25” gun and needs to be something shorter/rounded. Way way to tight a sight picture.Ħ.) The Pythons were a 4.25” bbl and 3” bbl. Plus the front sight/rear sight notch ratio is trash. Noticeably larger than the Python.Ĥ.) The ejector rods on both Python and Anaconda are considerably more robust than the small rod on the King Cobra.ĥ.) The adjustable sights that Colt has selected look sketchy as hell. No big deal since the DA is so good.ģ.) The Anaconda is a big bastard. They’re so good I almost forgot to try the single action.Ģ.) Single action on all of them is crisp, but the weight is a bit heavier than I would like. Could just be the longer trigger stroke making the overall weight seem lighter. I own a 3” King Cobra with the fixed sight.Īnecdotal samples of 2 Pythons and 1 Anaconda:ġ.) Double action triggers on the Pythons and Anaconda felt lighter to me than the King Cobra. I had a chance to handle a couple of new Pythons a week or two ago, and an Anaconda.
